The anti-cancer drug administration course (ADAC) supports health professionals to develop the necessary knowledge and clinical skills to administer anti-cancer drugs and safely handle hazardous drugs and related waste.
ADAC provides standardised education for the safe administration of anti-cancer drugs and safe handling of hazardous drugs and related waste.
The course consists of online learning and assessment supported by a clinical skills workshop to consolidate theory to practice. Competency assessments are used to assess clinical skill. There are two exit points in the course, the first at safe handling and the second at administering.
Workbooks have been provided to assist you in applying the principles discussed in the modules to your local work context and role. If you choose to use the workbook, whenever you see a workplace reflection in the module, there is space allocated in the workbook for you to record notes if you wish. Please confirm with your local facilitator if the workbook is mandated at your workplace.
This module provides an overview of the characteristics of hazardous drugs and principles of risk management in the workplace, including the safe handling of hazardous drugs and related waste, and the management of risk and exposure in the workplace.

This course is designed for nursing staff administering anti-cancer drugs. Medical and allied health staff may find components of the course useful for their clinical practice.
