 Cultural competence—how to achieve it

Effective Cultural Communication in Oncology is an interactive training program that specifically targets cultural competence in the oncology setting. It answers questions like ‘Why do we need to consider culture?’

Redesigned with a new, user-friendly format, this course educates on the management of cultural challenges and enables health professionals to improve cancer care for these patients. Effective cultural communication can also improve clinician-reported outcomes around culturally and linguistically diverse â€‹issues.

"I love Rad Onc nursing – it’s as simple as that"

Almost twenty years ago, Michelle’s traded her after-hours, clinical resource nursing role for a ‘9 to 5’ job in Rad Onc. Today, Michelle is the chair of the CNSA Radiation Oncology Specialist Practice Network and she hasn’t stopped there.

Michelle’s love of radiation oncology nursing and an encounter with eviQ at a CNSA conference, has resulted in the first skills and competency framework for radiation oncology nursing—the Radiation Oncology Knowledge and Skills (RONKAS) framework

Metro roadshow

The eviQ education metro roadshow toured 4 Sydney hospitals last month. As well as providing resource information sessions, we were looking to find out more about clinicians' learning styles and seeking general feedback about our resources.

Clinicians told us that they:

  • love our new rapid learning & expanded range of learning styles (branched narratives, interactive scenarios)
  • are interested in resources in other formats, such as podcast and voiceover
  • want more topics that fill clinical learning needs
  • would like printable summaries & presentation resources

If you see we're going to be at a venue near you, let us know if you'd like to arrange an information session at your facility. If you have any suggestions for resources, topics or learning formats that can meet your clinical learning needs, contact us via eviQEd@eviq.org.au .
